Securing Your Assets: A Guide to Enabling Authenticator App on Tokocrypto

Hi Tokonauts,

In the digital era, account security is paramount—especially for accounts linked to crypto assets. To help protect your account from unauthorized access, Tokocrypto provides the Authenticator App (Google Authenticator) feature as a robust Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) method.

This feature adds an extra layer of security by requiring a unique verification code whenever you perform critical activities on your account. Currently, there are two ways to activate the Authenticator App on the Tokocrypto app. Both serve the same function, so feel free to choose the one that is most convenient for you.

 

Initial Preparation

Before you begin, please ensure the following:

 

Method 1: Enabling via the Passkey Menu (Recommended)

  1. Open the Tokocrypto app and log in to your account.

  2. On the Home page, tap the green Tokocrypto logo icon in the top left corner.

  3. You will enter the account page displaying your UID and username.

  4. Find and tap the Passkey menu.

  5. You will be redirected to the Security page.

  6. Select Authenticator App.

  7. If it is not yet active, the system will display the activation page.

Method 2: Enabling via the Account Center

  1. Open the Tokocrypto app and log in to your account.

  2. At the top of the Home page, tap the profile area (displaying your UID/username) or tap the arrow icon ( > ).

  3. You will enter the Account Center page.

  4. Tap the Security menu.

  5. On the Security page, select Authenticator App.

  6. If the Authenticator App is not yet active, you will be directed to the activation page.

Linking with Google Authenticator

  1. The system will display a QR Code and/or a manual backup key.

  2. Open the Google Authenticator app on your phone.

  3. Add a new account by either:

    • Scanning the QR Code, or

    • Copying and pasting the manual key.

  4. Once successful, Google Authenticator will generate a 6-digit verification code for your Tokocrypto account.

Verify and Activate

  1. Return to the Tokocrypto app.

  2. Enter the required codes:

    • SMS Code

    • Email Code

    • Google Authenticator Code

  3. Ensure all codes are still valid (not expired).

  4. Tap Submit.

  5. Your Google Authenticator security is now successfully activated!

Important Notes

  • Backup: Store your Google Authenticator backup/recovery key in a safe, offline location.

  • Privacy: Never share your Google Authenticator codes with anyone.

  • Withdrawal Restriction: For your protection, fund withdrawals will be disabled for 72 hours after you deactivate or reset your Authenticator App.

  • Multi-Layer Security: Tokocrypto also offers other security methods like Passkeys, SMS/WhatsApp Authentication, and Anti-Phishing codes for added protection.
